Deborah Shannon Orgel-Gordon
Founder

Born and raised in Glendale, Queens, Deborah Orgel-Gordon moved to the North Shore region in 1993 to raise her son in the North Shore School District. Her mission in founding North Shore Biz Network came about after she found the need in the community to connect neighbors and help businesses on a face-to-face basis, in tandem with social media and online marketing, to get the word out at a minimal cost so that businesses can thrive -- and, in the process, to give back to local charities in need. Deb brings over 40 years of sales and marketing experience -- 15 of which were spent in retail sales -- to her role as Founder. Her career started at age 16, working in a jewelry store, and then moved to working at a jewelry manufacturing company in Manhattan. Later, Deb worked as a travel agent and consultant and in 2012, became the proprietor of Gem Craft Boutique in Glen Head until 2015. She has also worked as the PR Media Manager at Extravagant Realty. In our community, Deb served as a member of the Gold Coast Business Association -- formerly the Glenwood-Glen Head Business Association -- for eight years. She spent two years as the organization’s Corresponding Secretary, one year as the Recording Secretary and two years as President. During her tenure, Deb added email and social media marketing as a staple of the organization’s publicity plan, led the growth of the organization from 33 members to 175 members and conceptualized and created the annual Fall Fest, which is now six years old and brought awareness to the community of all local businesses set at one festival. Additionally, Deb serves as the Counselor Concierge for 100 Lawyers Strong, providing event planning for attorneys and other professionals, has served as a member of the Glen Cove Women’s Club since 2013, previously served on the board of the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce, volunteered with North Shore Relay for Life as the organizer of the event social media, administrates a number of area Facebook groups and volunteers with the Glen Cove Kiwanis and Senior Center. She also organized all of the area’s previous cash mobs, at local businesses including Gold Coast Hobby, Peace Soap, Justin’s Toys and Jack’s Shack. Above all, Deb is a Small Business Advocate, and looks forward to spreading awareness of small businesses and bringing proprietors and customers together to network.

Gracie Donaldson
Promotions Manager

Mary Grace Donaldson, or Gracie, as she’s often known, has lived in the North Shore area for almost her entire life, minus four years away at college at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, and six months working at her favorite place: Walt Disney World in Florida. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communication Studies, she brings approximately five years of professional experience and a Master’s degree in Public Communications and Media Studies from Fordham University to her role as the Promotions Manager for NSBN. Previously, Gracie has worked in the Editorial Departments of the National Association of Professional Women and Continental Who’s Who, and has contributed articles to company magazines and websites, as well as to websites on a freelance basis. Currently, Gracie works in her family’s automotive leasing business (also located in our community) and lends her organizational expertise to the company’s daily operation. She also services a growing number of social media and writing clients on a freelance basis, including a number of NSBN members. In the community, Gracie is a previous member of the Rotary Club of Glen Cove, the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce and worked on the committee for Glen Cove’s 350th Anniversary Celebration. She is an active member of the Gold Coast Business Association and in parish ministries at St. Mary’s in Roslyn Harbor. In addition, Gracie’s “second career” is in performing arts -- she has booked local gigs and is a paid leader of song at St. Mary’s, is active in community theatre as a singer, actress and producer. She hopes to continue to grow her life on the North Shore alongside her partner, Anthony, who also owns a small business in the area.
